This week I was finally able to reveal a website redesign for my church that I have been working on for a while.
LivingWaterCorona.com
It is a personal project (aka unbillable) so it had to be done in between actual work. I am pretty happy with the end result, though I would call it a work in progress still because there is so much more that I hope to do one day.
Highlight:
Custom Teaching Library Plugin
One aspect of church websites that is always important is to have the teachings, sermons, or Bible studies available in a way that is easy to navigate. There are a few plugin options for this, but I chose to build my own plugin to suit our needs.
Feature: Easily Find Resources For Every Book Of The Bible
Visitors can visit the Teaching Library Page, or advanced users can navigate to the page directly by adding the book title to our url! livingwatercorona.com/genesis
The video, audio, and slides are easily accessible from the Teaching Archive page, or visitors can open the Single Teaching Post to get a different look at the items available. See this message from Genesis 41-46 for example
Users can browse the extensive library of teachings by various tags/taxonomies such as Book, chapter, teacher, teaching style, service, etc.
It is also possible to focus on a specific chapter to see all the resources for that chapter. See Luke 4
Custom Divi Module For Displaying Teachings
Another aspect of this plugin project was adding a custom Divi module to make it easy to embed teachings in pages. This will make it easy to build a special page for an event, a teaching series, or other occasions. We used this to make our Recent Services page.
This plugin is not available for others to use at this time, but maybe one day… maybe… 😉
